The Cards

There are 4 kinds of cards:

1. Character

2. Spell

3. Equipment, and

4. Stadium

Each one has actions they can perform. The actions are:

1. Active [Act],

2. Alternative [Alt],

3. Passive [Pass], and/or

4. Reactive [React]

Spell cards can only be used when you have a Character card in your set of the same Type. Each Character and Spell card will have a type:

Villain

Warrior

Creature

Saint

Jester

Equipment cards are placed under Character cards to affect that card or are otherwise played and immediately discarded. Each Character can only have 1 equipment card unless otherwise stated. Equipment cards can be played on any type of character.

If a player has a stadium card, it must be played at the beginning of the game and cannot be targeted until the player loses all of their cards for the first time (more on this later).

The Gameplay

Each player begins with an equal amount of cards (20 cards max) in their deck (pre-shuffled and face-down), 50 HP and 75 MANA. Each player can only have 1 stadium card in their deck. You begin by placing your stadium card down and choosing 2 cards to have in your hand. On your turn, when you play a card, you place it down in front of you to make your Set- you can have a maximum of 6 cards in your hand and 6 cards in your set.

A typical turn follows this order:

First, you can choose to move a card from your hand to your set.

Next, If you have less than 6 cards in your hand, you can draw up to 2 cards.

Finally, you can take 1 Active action and 2 Alternative actions from any card in your set.

You can also use an Alternative action to swap a card from your hand with the top card in your deck (shuffling the deck afterwards).

You can only use 1 Character card during your turn.

Each player can only use one Reactive action per round.

Each action except for Passive actions will have a MANA cost at the end of its description. Some actions grant MANA– they still cost the amount listed and the MANA cost is spent before the effect takes place.

If you have no Character cards to play, you cast Unstable spells- spells without a caster. These cost double the MANA to cast. Equipment cards can be attached to Unstable spells, and you replace any mention of Character with Spell in their abilities.

If you lose 10+ HP during another player’s turn, you must choose a card in your set to discard. If you lose all your cards to discard hell, you lose 100 HP. if you survive (somehow), all your cards are returned to your deck and you may continue to play.

If a Character card with an attached equipment card is destroyed, the equipment card is shuffled into your deck.

Win Condition

The game ends when you lose all your HP. If you lose all your MANA, you can use an Alternative action to destroy a card in your set to regain 15 MANA.

Language Clarification

If a card says “lasts 1 round” or otherwise mentions “rounds”: a round is player-centric, meaning it lasts from the end of your turn to the beginning of your next one.

When a card is “returned to deck”, you must reshuffle your deck with the card.
